- From the Saved tab, tap a location, then tap the Edit button (pencil icon).
- Change the title, notes, category, folder, or rating. Add or update a photo or voice note, or delete an existing voice note.

- The distance updates when you press the refresh distance button.
- You can sort saved locations by distance to find the nearest places.
- When viewing a location’s details, the distance is shown at the top or in the info section.
Sharing Folders via Universal Link
The fastest way to share a folder is a Universal Link — a short https://maplet.net/share?data=… URL generated entirely on your device.
Nothing is uploaded. Maplet compresses the folder (titles, coordinates, notes, ratings, addresses, and related fields) into the link itself. There is no Maplet server storing the share.
How to share
- Long-press a folder and select Share.
- Choose Share via Deep Link.
- Send the link via Messages, Mail, AirDrop, or any other app.
What the recipient sees
- The link is a real HTTPS URL, so it always opens in a browser first.
- If they have Maplet installed, iOS Universal Links hand the folder off to the app automatically.
- If they don’t have the app — or they’re on a computer — they get an interactive web map at maplet.net/share, with pins, notes, and directions. They can tap Open in Maplet if they later install the app.
What’s included — and what isn’t
- Included: folder name, color, and up to 30 locations with title, coordinates, category, notes, address, rating, visited status, and contact fields when set.
- Not included: photos and voice notes. Use a .maplet file if you need the full archive.
- Older share links generated before this format may have been capped at 15 locations.
Try a live example: open a sample shared folder.
Share a single location, or open in any map app
Tap the share button on a saved location card to generate a link or share in various map formats. You can open any location directly in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, HERE, Citymapper, Gaode, Yandex, 2GIS, or Maps.me. When sharing, you can include all supported map formats at once so the recipient can open it in their app of choice.
Sharing Folders as .maplet Files
For complete folder sharing with all content, export folders as secure .maplet files. This creates an encrypted archive containing every location, photo, and voice note — with no location-count limit.
How to share as a .maplet file
- Long-press the folder you want to share
- Select Share Folder
- Choose Share as File
- Type a custom name or leave the default
- Press Generate .maplet File
- Share it normally or save it to Files
- Complete folder data export — no location-count limit
- Photos and voice notes included
- SHA-256 integrity verification
- Can only be opened by the Maplet app
Perfect for folder backups, device transfers, or sharing full folder data securely.
Managing Shared Files
All shared .maplet files are stored in the app for easy access.
- Go to Settings
- Under Export History, tap Export History
- View all previously shared
.mapletfiles
- View: See previously exported files with creation dates
- Re-share: Tap any file to share it again
- Delete: Remove individual files you no longer need
Auto-cleanup: Enable auto-delete after sharing, or clear files older than 7 days from Settings → Export History.
Managing Folders
In Folder view (Saved tab), long-press any folder to open the options menu:
- Rename: Change the folder’s name.
- Edit: Update the folder’s icon or color.
- Delete: Remove the folder (you may be prompted to move or delete its contents).
- Share: Create a Universal Link or a
.mapletfile.

Go to the Settings tab and select Manage Categories. You can view custom categories, tap Edit to change name, icon, or color, or tap Delete to remove a category that isn’t in use. Built-in categories cannot be edited or deleted.

Multi-Route Planner (Pro)
The Multi-Route Planner lets you plan and preview routes with multiple stops, optimize the order, and open or share the route in your favorite navigation apps.
Selecting Stops
- Open the Multi-Route Planner from the Pro tab or main menu.
- Tap locations to select them as stops. Selected stops are highlighted and counted at the top.

Use the toggle at the top to include your current location as the Start Point, End Point, or Off.
Previewing the Route

- The map view shows your stops and the calculated route.
- In Route Options you can choose Driving or Walking, enable Optimize Route & Stops, reorder stops, and enable/disable individual stops.
See total distance and estimated time, then Open In Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Here WeGo — or Share a link for the route. Apple Maps is recommended for multi-stop routes.
Importing Locations (Batch Import)
Import multiple locations at once from CSV, GPX, or KML files — useful for migrating data from other apps or quickly adding many places.
- Open Batch Import from the Pro tab or main menu.
- Choose the file format: CSV (spreadsheets), GPX (GPS tracks/waypoints), or KML (Google Earth).
- Pick a target folder and a default category for locations that don’t specify one.
- Tap Choose File, then review the preview.
- Handle duplicates (within 10 meters) by skipping or merging.
- Tap Import.
Format tips
- CSV: Required columns:
title(orname),latitude/lat,longitude/lon/lng. Optional: address, notes, category, folder, landmark, city, state, country, timezone. Supports a combinedcoordinatescolumn. - GPX: Supports waypoints, track points, and route points. Unnamed points prompt for a base name. Descriptions import as notes.
- KML: Supports placemarks and points with valid coordinates. Descriptions and addresses import as notes.
For best results, use UTF-8 encoding and valid coordinates. Use the preview to double-check data before importing.
Exporting Locations (Pro)
- Go to the Pro tab and select Export to PDF / CSV.
- Select the locations you want to export. Use search, sort, and filters as needed.
- Tap Configure to choose PDF or CSV, include map links, pick a map service, and select which fields to include (title, photo, address, coordinates, notes, category, folder, date added, visited status, map link, landmark). Reorder fields if you like.
- Tap Preview, then Export. The share sheet opens when the file is ready.
PDF is best for printing and sharing with photos. CSV is ideal for backups or importing into other tools.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What happens if I reach the free location limit?
- You won’t be able to save new locations until you delete some or upgrade to Pro for unlimited saves.
- How do I restore my Pro subscription?
- Go to the Pro/Upgrade screen and tap “Restore Purchases.” Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.
- Is my data private?
- Yes. All your personal data is stored locally and synced via your private iCloud account. Folder share links are encoded on-device in the URL — nothing is uploaded to a Maplet server. Anonymous analytics and crash data may be sent to Firebase; see the Privacy Policy.
- How do I transfer my data to a new device?
- Sign in to iCloud on your new device and install Maplet. Your data will sync automatically.
- What if I accidentally delete a location or folder?
- Deletions are permanent. There’s no undo, so please double-check before deleting. If you delete a folder and it still appears, restart the app.
- Can I use Maplet offline?
- Yes. You can view, organize, and manage saved locations offline. Some features (map previews or iCloud sync) require internet.
- What map apps are supported for sharing/opening locations?
- Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, HERE, Citymapper, Gaode, Yandex, 2GIS, and Maps.me.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- Open your device’s Settings, tap your Apple ID, go to Subscriptions, and select Maplet.
- Can I share folders with others?
- Yes, two ways: (1) a Universal Link at
https://maplet.net/share?data=…— up to 30 locations, encoded on-device, opens as a web map (or in the app if installed); photos and voice notes are not included. (2) a.mapletfile with complete data including photos and voice notes, and no location limit. - Does the other person need Maplet installed to open a share link?
- No. The link always works in a browser. If they have Maplet, iOS can open it directly in the app via Universal Links.
- What file formats does Maplet support for importing?
- CSV, GPX, and KML. CSV is best for spreadsheets, GPX for GPS tracks, and KML for Google Earth files.
- What export formats are available?
- Pro users can export to PDF (for printing/sharing with photos) or CSV (for data backup and use in other apps). Both can include map links and customizable fields.
- What’s the difference between temporary and green flags?
- Temporary flags are cleared when the app restarts or when you press the clear flag button. Green flags are persistent, remain after restart, and can later be saved as a location.
- What happens to my data if I uninstall Maplet?
- If iCloud sync is enabled, your data remains in iCloud and can be restored when you reinstall. If not, local data will be lost.
- Can I use Maplet without location permissions?
- You can save locations manually by searching for addresses, but distance calculation, current-location display, and automatic location saving require location permissions.
- What’s included in the Pro subscription?
- Unlimited location saves, Shared Folders as
.mapletfiles, Journey Planner & Checklists, Multi-Route Planner, Batch Import (CSV/GPX/KML), and Custom Export (PDF/CSV). - What if my iCloud sync isn’t working?
- Check that you’re signed into iCloud, have a stable internet connection, and iCloud Drive is enabled for Maplet. Try restarting the app or your device.
- What if I see duplicate folders or categories?
- Restart the app. Maplet will automatically detect and fix these duplicates during startup.
